What minibuses are available to hire?
When our minibuses aren’t out in use for dial-a-ride/town rider services they are available for community groups to hire.
What do you mean by community group?
A community group is usually a voluntary group set up by local communities.
These may include the following but this list is not exhaustive –
- Girlguiding groups
- Scouting groups
- Merched Y Wawr
- U3A
- Church/chapel groups
- Youth groups
- Schools
- Meithrinfa
- WI

Things to think about before booking
Hints and tips on hiring a minibus – Think about where you want to go – is there parking available for a minibus, what size would suit you best, what mobility do your passengers have, you will require a lift, is anyone in a wheelchair – if so can they transfer to a seat or must they remain in their wheelchair, do any of the passengers use mobility aids such as walkers, do you have anyone who can drive for your group, times you wish to pick up the minibus and drop it off, where would you pick up your passengers – is there room, is it safe.
Driver
Everyone who drives one of our minibuses must have a MiDAS certificate – Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme or have a full PSV. If you havent got a MiDAS we can put you in touch with a MiDAS trainer – the course consists of two parts theory and driving assessment – please note if you already have a PSV then you are only required to do the theory section. A familiarization drive can be organised before you take the minibus out.
If you cant find your own driver we may be able to help you find one. Please be aware that some drivers do require payment.
Cost
All groups have to be a member of the Preseli Rural Transport Association – the cost is currently £20 per annum. There is a membership form to complete.
The hire cost of our minibuses is – £1.30 per mile + £5 admin fee.
Mileage is charged to and from the home location of the minibus – for most of our minibuses this is Bwlchygroes.
Minibus hire includes fuel and insurance.
If you cancel a minibus with less than 24 hours notice there may be a cancellation charge.
An invoice is sent after the hire has taken place and payment is to be made within 30 days of hire.
Can I hire a minibus for more than 1 day and is distance a problem?
Yes you can hire a minibus for more than one day but it does depend on what that minibus is used for – you need to contact the office to discuss further.
Distance is not a problem but the further afield you go the more drivers you do need.
